about

A song about being stuck at home. We’d actually come up with this tune a while back, but it started to feel like it had a different resonance in the present moment.

Peri drove the arrangement of this one, steering towards the musical landscapes of Judee Sill and Mary Hopkin, which is a country where she fits right in.

lyrics

I click on the tv, I stare at the wall
If not for the heat pipes, there'd be no sound at all
I pick up the phone, and I ring you
What else could I do?

I gave up on Sundays, I stay home instead
If the good Lord should need me, well I'll be in bed
Here at St. Mattress of the Springs
We pray the phone rings.

I could work at the factory, or shop at the mall
What's good for the country, isn't good for us all

I could look to your window, or look to the stars
Or walk down the street 'til it leads to the bar
A party will be there, a party of one
I don't need anyone.
